SHIH-MENG CHING

Shihmeng Ching (he/him) is a songwriter and composer of multimedia based in New York City. With emerging and authentic passion, accurate emotions and electrifying musical ideas, Shihmeng seeks to offer his audience with a high energy, engaging and audacious listening experience, while continuing to explore new possibilities in his sound. Rooted in classical music and rock, Shihmeng takes inspiration from various forms of media including: concert, pop, and experimental music, to film, animation and video games.

His work has garnered critical acclaim, including scoring trailers for major mobile game title like Brawl Stars and scoring promotion short film for sustainable fashion brand ISABOKO. Shihmeng had the pleasure of writing music and collaborating with filmmakers, animators and game developers from Columbia University, Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, NYU Game Center, Fashion Institute of Technology and Communication University of Zhejiang.

Shihmeng is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Music Theory and Composition: Screen Scoring at the Steinhardt School at New York University. Mentors include: Irwin Fisch, Mark Suozzo and Chris Hajian. Shih-meng is the winner of the 2024-2025 NYU Premiere Film Music Composition Competition. He is currently a member of esteemed organizations such as SCL: The Society of Composers and Lyricists and BMI. Scoring and songwriting aside, Shihmeng is a music educator whose teaching ranges from music production to guitar performance.
